From the souls of slain women, the five Olympian goddesses, Aphrodite, Artemis, Athena, Demeter, and Hestia created a race called the Amazons from rain and clay. Though the headstrong god of war, Ares, was vehemently against this idea, and so he meddled in their creation by secretly fathering the first two Amazons, the sisters Hippolyta and Antiope. For three thousand years, the Amazons lived away from the corruption of man on Themyscira, or what man would later call "Paradise Island." As Amazons could be born from clay, they had no need for man, and could find pleasure within each other. One day, a female World War II pilot named Diana Trevor crash-landed on Themyscira and found the Amazonian women nearly defeated at the hands of a horrible monster. She helped them defeat the beast, though at the cost of her own life. The Amazons revered her as a hero, and kept her memory dear to their ongoing survival. When the Queen of the Amazons, Hippolyta, decided that she wanted a daughter, she made a clay statue, and with the help of the goddess Gaea, imbued life into her and named her Diana in memory of the hero Diana Trevor.

Like her brethren, Princess Diana received extensive physical training from a very early age. But during her adolescence, Diana was lonely, and longed for a playmate of her own age. The Amazon sorceress Magala granted her this wish and created a duplicate. Though her existence was kept secret from the other Amazons, the young Diana now had her own Amazon sister to play with. But their relationship would not last long. When Hippolyta's nemesis, Dark Angel, came to Themyscira to abduct the young Diana, she mistakenly took her duplicate, and made her live the confusing life of Donna Troy. The two would not see each other again for many years.

With globalisation in tow and Themyscira found by mankind, a little manipulation by the gods and a need for a hero to counter Ares' machinations in mankind's world, Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons declared that a champion of a contest would become their ambassador to the rest of the world. When Diana expressed her interest, Hippolyta refused her daughter's inclusion. But Diana was determined and entered the contest disguised. She won the contest and surprised her Amazon sisters. With reluctance, Hippolyta had no choice but to bestow the position of official Amazon ambassador to her daughter Diana. And with the help of the gods, Diana was bestowed magical powers, weapons, and armour to aid her in her duties. Diana's last task to prove her worth was to beat the Olympian gods' champion, Heracles (Hercules), in several tests of strength and endurance. It wasn't an easy task, but Diana came out on top, and was given the title of Wonder Woman.

Diana eventually defeated Ares and convinced him that destroying mankind would leave no one to worship him. With the threat of Ares contained, Diana remained in mankind's world to spread the values of peace, love, and harmony. Diana's strong constitution and instilled principals did not make it easy for her to adjust to mankind's strange values and culture. It was all... Greek to her. But with the help of her friend, Julia Kapatelis, and public relations manager, Myndi Mayer, Diana used her natural political talents to spread her message. Wonder Woman and her cause quickly became a household name throughout the world. She even garnered a fanatical cult following to champion her cause. On the flipside, right-wing Christian conservatives abhorred her existence as her benefactors, the Olympian gods, threatened their own Christian beliefs.

Her first years in mankind's world were a time of discovery for Diana, not only in values and principals, but personal relationships with people very different from her Amazon sisters. She was touched by the American fighter pilot, Lieutenant Steve Trevor, son of Diana Trevor, who saved the Amazons so many years ago. Though nothing deep had ever come out of this relationship. She also soon met Superman. And while the two did not get along at first, there was undeniable sexual tension between the "ultimate" male hero and the "ultimate" female hero that continues to this day. To her surprise, Diana found her erstwhile sister, Donna, as a member of the fledgling superhero team called the Teen Titans. The sisters were finally reunited. Diana herself soon joined the Justice League, and even became its leader for a while.

Both Diana and Donna became instrumental figures during the War of the Gods. When the demi-god sorceress Circe sought more power for herself, she manipulated many pantheons such as the Greek, Roman, Egyptian, New Gods, and many other deities, into warring with one another. Circe's plan was to have them kill one another, so the plane of deities would become easy pickings for herself. Wonder Woman's toughest battle came when the Greek and Roman gods pitted their respective champions, herself and Captain Marvel, against each other. During the holy battles, all of Earth's heroes banded together to keep the mighty gods at bay from destroying the whole world and its innocent people. Even supervillains assisted by attempting to take down Circe, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Diana became aware of Circe's manipulations and, with the help of Captain Marvel, was able to finally defeat her.

One day, Hippolyta was overcome by horrible premonitions of Wonder Woman's death, and saw it as a sign from the gods. Fearing for her daughter's safety, she quickly declared a contest for the replacement of Wonder Woman, to Diana's astonishment. Hippolyta rigged the contest so that the Amazon Artemis (not the Greek goddess) would win the contest and take on the Wonder Woman costume, while Diana refused to lay low and remained a superhero using her own name. But as long as another adopted the Wonder Woman mantle, Hippolyta felt relatively at ease. Much to Diana's chagrin, however, Artemis tarnished the Wonder Woman name with her more aggressive and brash methods of spreading justice and equality. Though as Hippolyta's premonitions urged, Wonder Woman (Artemis) was soon killed in battle against the White Magician. Diana regained the Wonder Woman title and found out about her mother's manipulations. She then descended into the Underworld of Hades to rescue Artemis.

But with Artemis' resurrection, fate still needed for Wonder Woman to die. In a battle with the
demon Neron, Diana was blasted into a coma, and eventual death. The Olympian gods would not have their greatest champion fade out of existence and rewarded her with immortality as the Goddess of Truth to stand by their side. The gods also made Hippolyta take on the role of Wonder Woman as penance for her manipulations of fate in casting Artemis to die as Wonder Woman. During her tenure, Hippolyta went back in time momentarily to World War II, joined other heroes in the Justice Society of America, and became the first Wonder Woman known to humankind. Meanwhile, her daughter Diana was not having an easy time adjusting to her godhood. Though warned by her fellow gods and goddesses not to meddle too much in human's affairs, Diana could not stand by watching idly whenever her friends and family needed her help. Eventually, the angry Zeus expelled her from her godhood and returned her to a mortal life, which deep down is what Diana desired anyway.

Diana returned from Olympus and once more adopted the Wonder Woman guise. Nor could Hippolyta stay away from doing good as Wonder Woman after her experiences in World War II. Her absence from ruling Themyscira eventually led to a full-blown civil war between the Amazon tribes, and the monarchy system was abolished from the Amazons. During Imperiex's attempts to destroy Earth, Hippolyta fell during a battle with one of his probes. Soon after, tragedy struck a second time when Donna was killed by a rogue Superman robot. Diana was devastated with the sudden loss of both her mother and sister in such a short span of time. But she is determined to move on, carefully watching the new Wonder Girl to pass on her legacy, and even writing a best-seller book called Reflection to further her cause of peace, love, and harmony.

From Aphrodite, Diana has received grace, from Artemis agility, from Athena intellect, from Hermes flight and superspeed, and from other Olympian gods the powers of superstrength and high physical and magical resistance, with the exception of piercing attacks. The tiara from her mother, Hippolyta, can be used as a boomerang-like long-distance weapon. From Gaea's girdle, she was given the Lasso of Truth, which can be used not only as an effective support weapon in combat, but also force anyone caught within it to tell the truth. From Hephaestus was forged her indestructible defensive bracelets. And from the Olympian goddesses, she was bestowed her breast plate armour. Diana was trained in Ancient Greek methods of combat from a very early age, that included hand-to-hand and the mastery of weapon combat using sword and shield, spear, and bow and arrow. She is also adept in large-scale war strategies and tactics. For her role as Themyscira's ambassador to mankind, Diana has mastered the art of politics and diplomacy.

During the final moments of the planet Krypton's doom, renowned scientist Jor-El and wife Lara placed their son Kal-El into a small, intergalactic rocket ship in hopes that he would survive as the last son of Krypton. The rocket ship entered Earth's atmosphere and came crashing down like a meteor into the sparse farming fields of Smallville, Kansas, U.S.A. Per chance, the local couple of Jonathan and Martha Kent witnessed the event. Curious, the two approached the ship and found the baby Kal-El. Unsure at first, the childless Kents decided to adopt the baby, naming him Clark, and covered up the alien event from the public and the rest of the world. Clark would spend the remainder of his formative years in small town Smallville.

It wasn't until Clark's adolescence that the Kents realised of his superhuman abilities. Throughout high school, Clark not only continued to learn more and more of his superpowers, but began sbusing them to cheat in his academics as well as to be the star of his football team. When the Kents revealed Clark's extraterrestrial origin to him, he began to understand the responsibility that came along with such powers. It was also in high school where Clark met his first love, Lana Lang, and his friend, the future president of the U.S.A., Pete Ross.

Soon after, Clark pursued his higher education in the nearby city of Metropolis, wherein he would graduate with a degree in journalism. One day, while a malfunction in a NASA plane caused it to come crashing down through the sky, Clark quickly thought to use his powers to save it. Witnessing the event, hotshot Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane scooped the incident, labeling the mysterious figure as "Superman." Clark quickly adopted it as his official codename, and created a blue and red superhero costume, while giving his secret identity Clark Kent a pair of glasses, to distinguish his two identities to protect his loved ones from his enemies. Clark himself joined the Daily Planet staff and soon began an endearing friendship with his main competitor, the gung-ho reporter Lois Lane. It was also here where Clark met his best friend, Daily Planet staff photographer Jimmy Olsen.

Meanwhile, Superman became the beloved protector of Metropolis. But with Superman's appearance also came bigger threats to society. Superman then first meets his nemesis, Lex Luthor, who in his growing obsession to thwart the Man of Steel came upon Green Kryptonite -- radiated chunks of the exploded planet Krypton that made Kryptonians weak or even die with prolonged exposure. Time and again, the two would face off, and although Superman continues to thwart Luthor's plans, his personal vendetta has made each time prove more and more dangerous. One such plan was to create a clone of Superman that Luthor could control for his own evil purposes. But the result was a twisted imperfection that became known as Bizarro. Superman's appearance also led to the creation of Intergang, an organised crime syndicate led by the businessman-cum-crime-lord Morgan Edge, who received Apokolips technology to wreak havoc on Earth from Darkseid himself.

Superman's reputation as a hero quickly grew to not only the rest of America, but the whole wide
world. His heroism also ushered in a new era of superheroes who continued the legacy of Earth's first generation of superheroes from the golden age World War II era. He would soon meet with Batman of Gotham City and begin a love-hate relationship that has endured over the years. While Superman may often disagree with Batman's unethical methods, he also understands that the Dark Knight's detective and strategy skills are unmatched on the field. Later, the two would join up with other pioneers of their era, Aquaman, Black Canary, the Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter of the Justice League of America, which doubled its membership over the years and became the world's greatest superhero team and defenders of the planet. But this seemingly happy marriage would later wane when Aquaman disbanded the first incarnation of the JLA and demanded that the League function with only full-time members instead of an "available" on call basis. It would be quite a while before Superman rejoined the ranks of the League again.

During his adventures alone, Superman met a mysterious shapeshifting being called Matrix from a pocket universe who would become known as the first Supergirl. This Supergirl brought Superman to her reality, where he would experience what could possibly be the most traumatic experience of his life. When three Kryptonian outlaws from a pocket universe threatened the destruction of Earth, Superman was overwhelmed by his emotional wont to protect his second home from a similar fate to Krypton. So much so, that he became an executioner and killed these three Kryptonians. This experience left Superman emotionally distraught. When the costumed Metropolis vigilante named Gangbuster was paralysed, Superman secretly donned the mask and identity to fight crime in Metropolis using more excessive methods. But when the masquerade was exposed, the already unstable Superman decided to keep the planet safe from himself and acted out a self-imposed exile away from Earth.

During this prolonged period of time in outer space, Superman first came upon the Kryptonian artifact called the Eradicator, which would play several important roles later on in his life. Meanwhile, back on Earth, the shapeshifter Matrix adopted the guise of Clark Kent in Superman's absence. Finally overcoming his inner conflicts and realising that Earth was better with him than without him, Superman returned to Earth. The Eradicator caused much trouble for the Last Son of Krypton, which culminated in its manipulation of Kal-El to denounce his Earth culture and completely embrace his Kryptonian heritage. During this phase, Kal-El donned traditional Kryptonian garb and called himself Krypton Man. But with the assistance of his Earth friends and family, Kal-El found his "true" self once more.

Admitting how much they missed each other during Superman's exile, Clark and Lois become an official couple. But theirs would not be an easy relationship. Clark still felt the need to keep his superhero persona from Lois. Things didn't get much better when a Princess from the planet Almerac, named Maxima, came to Earth to find a worthy spouse. Finding such in Superman, Maxima demanded the two marry and mate. For Superman, whose Kryptonian genes were incompatible with humans to make offspring but compatible with Almerans, it was a tempting offer. But his love for Lois could not be budged. The two are engaged and Clark finally tells Lois about his double life as Superman to further instill his faith in their love.

Their relationship would come to a startling halt when the being called Doomsday made its way into Metropolis. With Supergirl and the JLA defeated and gravely injured, it fell upon Superman to stop the rampaging beast and save the day. Unfortunately, it came at a price... Superman's life. As the Kent's watched the incident on television, Pa Kent was unable to handle the grief and collapsed of a heart attack. Almost immediately, four figures emerged to lay claim as Metropolis' protector: the Eradicator, taking the appearance of Kal-El himself but with energy-based powers; the astronaut Hank Henshaw, who took on a cyborg body and was called Cyborg Superman; a cloned younger body from Superman's genes called Superboy; and the engineer John Henry Irons, the armour-clad superhero called Steel. The Eradicator would recover Superman's body from his tomb, bring it to Superman's Fortress of Solitude in Antarctica, and use it as a conduit for solar energy. Meanwhile, during a near-death experience, Pa Kent and the Lord of Order called Kismet rescued Superman's spirit. The two events led to the eventual return of Superman. It wasn't long before the Cyborg Superman revealed his true nature, his alliance with the intergalactic warlord named Mongul, and their plans to convert Coast City (hometown of then Green Lantern Hal Jordan) into "Engine City." Together, Superman, Superboy, Supergirl, Steel, and the Eradicator defeated the two, but not before Coast City was totally decimated, which is what caused the Green Lantern Hal Jordan to become insane.

While Superman's life returns to "normal," Clark Kent's takes a turn for the worse. Not only does Lois break off their engagement because she feels neglected by Clark's life as Superman, and more importantly thinking of the heartache she experiences should he "die" once more with the dangerous life he leads, but she also takes on the job of foreign correspondent to the Daily Planet to distance herself from him. Meanwhile, the heartbroken Superman stays busy by once more forming a new Justice League of America with his colleagues Batman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, the Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman. Fortunately, it wasn't long before Lois returned to Clark's longing arms, and the two soon exchanged marital vows to fortify their union for the rest of their lives.

But Superman is not given a break when the Sun-Eater heads towards Sol (our solar system's sun). Heroes and villains the world over rally together to stop the disaster. Alas, to no avail. The Sun is consumed, and the planet falls into panic. As heroes the world over try to contain the chaos, Superman's powers, which must be replenished with solar energy, begins to wane more and more, until finally completely lost unto him. Even after Hal Jordan sacrifices himself to reignite the Sun, Superman's powers do not return. But with the help of the New Gods of New Genesis, Superman was placed into the core of the Sun, which returned his powers. All was not right, however, when Superman's body soon began exhibiting electrical anomalies and eventually turned into an all-energy construct. To contain this new body, Superman's own nemesis Lex Luthor and S.T.A.R. Labs' Professor Emil Hamilton designed a special suit. It took a while for Superman to adjust to his new energy-based powers. But just as he does, the villainous team-up of the Cyborg and Toyman, in their attempt to destroy the new Superman, surprisingly resulted in a split into two energy beings that would be dubbed Superman Blue, with a more passive and subdued personality, and Superman Red, with a more aggressive and volatile personality. When the two realised of their coexistence, they would first butt heads, but eventually realised that they had to work together if they were to reunite. It took the threat of the Millenium Giants, and the two Supermen's monumental battles against them that followed, for them to merge into the one true, original Superman.

Now with his regained original body and powers, Superman yearned to learn more about his homeworld of Krypton. Opportunity knocked when S.T.A.R. Labs' Professor Hamilton helped him and Lois to travel back in time to a parallel Krypton through the Phantom Zone. There, he sought to get in touch with his Kryptonian heritage and culture. The couple even met with Kal-El's parents Jor-El and Lara. Their visit was not without trouble, however, when the cunning General Zod branded them outlaws. With their public freedom revoked, Kal-El and Lois adopted the guise of Nightwing and Flamebird, legendary heroes of Krypton's distant past. With the help of Jor-El, they were able to defeat Zod and safely return to their rightful place and time.

Superman's archenemy Luthor, in all his wealth and power, felt the only way to go up from his influencial position was to run for the United States presidency. Much to Superman's chagrin, not to mention other heroes', Lex Luthor wins the presidential election. Surprisingly, Clark's friend Pete Ross, now also husband to his first love Lana Lang, accepted to be Luthor's running mate, hence becoming the Vice President. Since then, Luthor and has been using his high seat of power to control the country, and even the world, and has expanded his machinations to burden many other heroes beside Superman. Most recently, the vile leader of the free world manipulated the world into believing that Superman was responsible for a Kryptonian asteroid hurling to Earth. President Luthor enlisted the manpower of many heroes in arresting Superman, who was branded a fugitive. But with the loyal help of Batman, Luthor's corruption was revealed, thus ending his presidency, himself now a known criminal.

Kryptonians do not have superhuman powers by nature on their homeworld of Krypton, which revolved around a dying red sun. Superman's powers come from the Earth's sun still being a yellow one, giving him flight, a high level of invulnerability, superstrength, and superspeed. A superbreath is often used to release strong winds or even freeze. In addition, he has heightened senses. His eyes can also emit a heat beam and are capable of x-ray vision, which is only obstructed by lead and lead-laced objects. He must "recharge" his powers by means of exposure to a yellow sun.

As a reporter, Clark Kent has mastered investigative journalism. Through it, he has significantly developed his detective intellect, which helps in solving cases Superman is faced with. Superman has also adopted a Kryptonian meditation/martial arts style called Torquasm-Vo, which allows him to enter a higher state of consciousness and psychic plane.

Pulsar (Monica Rambeau)

Real Name: Monica Rambeau
Former Aliases: Photon III, Daystar, Captain Marvel II, Spectre, Lady-of Light
First Appearance: Amazing Spider Man (1st series) Annual #16
Known Relatives: Maria Rambeau (mother), Frank Rambeau (father)
Group Affiliation: formerly Avengers
Known Allies: Captain America, Avengers, Spider-Man
Major Enemies: Dr. Druid, Temptress, Kree, Skrull
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 130 lbs.
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black

Monica Rambeau was a lieutenant of a New Orleans harbor patrol, when a friend grandfather approached her for help. Andre LeClare, a renowned physicist discovered a way to draw energy from another dimension. while working for South American dictator, Ernesto Ramirez. Discovering Ramirez wanted to use this discovery for a weapon, LeClare ventured to the States for Monica’s help. She agreed to help, and accompanied him to an oilrig where the weapon was being assembled. Monica was bombarded with these extra-dimensional energies and was transformed into living energy. She materialized into her own physical form back home in New Orleans. She created an outfit to conceal her identity out of Mardi Gras costumes and instinctively reassumed energy form, flying back to the oilrig.

Once returning to the rig, she witnessed LeClare shot by a scientist who created the disruptor , and the damaged weapon created an inter-dimensional breech. Monica was sucked into the breech, and managed to seal the hole with her own energy. Then she quickly saved LeClare from a second gunshot wound , and left his attacker for the authorities.

After a couple of days of recovery, Professor LeClare visited Monica with a gift. It was a costume based on the design of her Mardi Gras one, but this one was made of unstable molecules. He explained the extent of her newfound powers and suggested she use them for the good of humanity. LeClare showed her a news clipping of her actions and in the captions the dubbed her Captian Marvel. She decided to take that name.

Monica decided the professor’s idea was a good one, and resigned from her Harbor Patrol, to
devote more time to being a hero. She would soon discover the energy she absorbed from the breech was building up inside her body uncontrollably and traveled to New York in search of the Fantastic Four’s Reed Richards. Discovering Reed was away, she was directed to Avenger’s Mansion where Iron Man , with the help of Spider-Man, managed to siphon out her excess energies. While at Avenger’s Mansion, the Wasp invited Monica to join the Avengers as an Avengers-in-training. She agreed, and in short time, she was accepted a full membership.

Monica revealed to her parents her secret identity. They were initially concerned but grateful and proud of their daughter. While the Wasp went missing, and the Avengers encountered the Beyonder, Monica showed leadership abilities. This led to Captain America nominating her for chairperson of the Avengers, when the position was vacated. After a brief period of doubt, she accepted.

Monica has helped the Avengers from time to time, such as in Galactic Storm, and various other missions where her power was needed. After meeting Genis, the son of the original Captain Marvel, Monica turned the code-name over to him, in honor of his deceased father. Taking the code-name of Photon, Monica was recently stationed in space as part of the Avengers' effort to become more proactive. Genis-Vell then took the name Photon, but Monica decided to let him have it, coming up with a new name for herself, Pulsar.

Pulsar has the strength of a normal human who exercises regularly. She possess the ability to transform her body into any form of energy in the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to x-rays and every wavelength in between, simply by willing it.Besides being able to totally exchange her matter for energy, Pulsar can direct relatively small amounts of the energies she employs through her hand or presumably any other area of her body. She apparently does this by creating small interfaces with the dimension from which she derives her powers, and letting the designated energy pass through. She mentally controls both type and quantity of energy she wishes to transmit. It is not known the maximum amount of energy she can transmit at a given time.

Pulsar can use her light-energies to create convincing three-dimensional holographic images of herself. Other than the fact they cast no shadow, they are extremely lifelike.

Monica can travel slower than the speed of light (186,274 mile per second) in her various energy forms. She may accomplish this by retaining a few molecules of matter interspersed with her energy-form, sufficient to create a "dragging" effect. Monica is apparently unlimited by the amount of time that she can remain in her energy-form. She can apparently only transform herself into one wavelength of energy at a time, but she can transform between one energy-state and another in a fraction of a second. As noted above, the amount of energy she can transmit through her body at a given time is not known. Extensive energy transformation and manipulation can be physically taxing once she reassumes her physical form.

Ollie Queen was born into a wealthy family in Star City. His father was an industrialist and big game hunter. Ollie was taken on one of the hunting trips by his mother and father to learn how to shoot, but instead took up a bow and arrow. When a lion attacked the camp, killing his parents, Ollie used his bow to kill it. He was heartbroken, and did not pick up a bow again for years.

Ollie spent the next few years growing up. He spent his family’s money, and became a playboy. One day, while on a party yacht, Ollie got drunk and fell overboard. He washed up on an uncharted island, and had to make a bow and arrow out of things he could find to hunt and survive. Eventually, a group of drug runners arrived on the island, and Ollie used his bow to capture them, take their boat, and bring them to the authorities.

Ollie returned to civilization a changed man, and became interested in radical causes. He took extreme left political positions, standing against nuclear power and war in all its forms. He met a woman named Moonday Hawke, and the two had a passionate affair. Moonday became pregnant, and the two had a son, Connor, who Ollie would not see for years.

But this wasn’t enough for Ollie. He decided he needed to give back more. Using his fortune, he created crime fighting paraphernalia, and decided to use his bow as his main weapon. Taking the name Green Arrow, he became hero to Star City’s downtrodden. He also began bank rolling the fledgling Justice League of America, who he joined shortly thereafter. He met Dinah Lance, Black Canary, and the two began a tumultuous relationship that would last for years.

Ollie met a boy named Roy Harper who idolized Green Arrow. Ollie took him in and made him his sidekick, Speedy. Ollie, Dinah, and Roy shared many adventures together for years, but soon, all that would change, leading to Ollie’s hard-traveling days.

Ollie and his friend Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of earth at the time, confronted corruption in Star City, and Ollie wouldn’t let Hal turn a blind eye. Ollie dragged Hal along on a cross-country road trip, showing him the seedier side of America, the dark corners heroes rarely see. Along the way they learned that Roy had become a heroin addict, and Ollie and Dinah had to help him recover. Ollie also lost much of his fortune, giving him a new perspective on the poor.

Ollie and Dinah were out patrolling one night, when they came across a group of criminals. Blinded by a flash of light, Ollie’s shot was off, and he accidentally killed a criminal. Wracked with guilt, Ollie went to an ashram where he spent some time trying to come to terms with what he had done.

Ollie left the ashram and returned to Dinah, and the two intensified their relationship. They spent
some time in Star City, but eventually moved to Seattle and bought a flower shop called Sherwood Florist. There happiness was shattered, though, when Dinah was kidnapped and tortured by drug dealers, and Ollie, in his rage, killed the man who did it. He also encountered the mysterious assassin Shado, and the mercenary spy Eddie Fyers, who would continue to impact his life. Part of it was that Ollie and Shado had a brief tryst, and produced a son, Robert.

Ollie and Dinah continued trying to work through the problems cause by the torture incident. They protected Seattle until Eddie, hired to discredit Green Arrow, framed him for terrorism. With the aid of Shado and a repentant Fyers, Ollie cleared his name, and went on a world quest to try to find his place in it again. Ollie eventually returned, where he reconciled with Roy, but he and Dinah split up after all these years.

Ollie spent some more time wandering before he became involved in the Earth shaking events set into play by Parallax, his friend Hal Jordan, now gone mad. Ollie was forced to kill Jordan (or so he thought), and Ollie once more returned to the ashram to find his center. There he met a young monk named Connor Hawke, and the two set out from the monastery to find out who has been trying to kill Ollie for some time.

Ollie and Connor track down Eddie Fyers for help, but Ollie is shortly separated from the others. He is confronted by Hal Jordan, not dead after all, and he tells Ollie that Connor is his son, something that Ollie may or may not have already known. Ollie was then asked by the same government organization that had been hunting him to infiltrate a radical environmental group called Eden Corp. Ollie did, and did his best to stop them, but he was too late to stop a plane with a bio-weapon to take off towards Metropolis. Ollie held the detonator, and Superman, who had arrived to stop the plane, said the only way to save the city was to sever Ollie’s arm and explode the plane before it reached the city. Deciding that he’d rather die then live as a cripple, Ollie released the detonator, sacrificing himself to save the city.

And so Green Arrow died. Or at least he did for a while. As one of his last acts before he sacrificed his own life, Hal Jordan brought Ollie back from the dead. Returning to Star City, Ollie was partially amnesiac, only remembering early in his career. He found a young runaway, Mia, and the two took up residence with Stanley, a rich and apparently benevolent old man. Then Ollie found out the truth: while his body and mind had been resurrected, his soul had not. Stalked now by supernatural forced who wanted to take his soulless body, Ollie fled to Stanley’s house to find Stanley was a serial killer and black mage, who wanted to transfer his soul from his dying body into Ollie’s healthy one. Connor appeared to aid Ollie, and Ollie’s soul returned to his body in time to stop Stanley, who was consumed by his own evil.

Stanley had already transferred all his wealth to Oliver Queen in preparation for his plan, and so Ollie was rich again. He kept the house, and Ollie, Connor, and Mia took up residence there. Ollie again began patrolling Star City, making it his home. He reconciled with Dinah, and the two began seeing each other again, and took a tour across the country with Roy, the two reclaiming all of Ollie’s possessions.

Ollie became embroiled in a corporate scandal in Star City, aiding young lawyer Joanna Pierce in trying to help some of Star City’s underclass. He also had a one night stand with her. The corporation sent a hitman named Dracon after anyone who knew its secret, and he killed Joanna and attacked Connor and Mia. Ollie felt immense guilt, for the affair and for the injury done to his friends and family.

One of Star City’s wealthy class recently decided to protect the city by invoking demons to protect the city from all crime, creating a dome of energy over it and stopping all modern technology. The demons did their job too well, killing for the slightest infraction. Ollie found that only weapons like his bow would work, and could harm the demons, so he and Connor gathered together Star City’s best cops and worst gangsters, and together they stormed the mansion of the spell caster. Coming along was Mia, who had become a good hand with a bow. While Connor and the mini-army held off the demons, Ollie and Mia found that the man who had cast the spell had been duped: the demons would continue to expand their power, and conquer the world. The only way to stop it was to kill him, and Mia fired the killing shot. The guilt that Ollie feels over turning her into a killer has caused him to become reckless, and has caused enough friction to cause another break between him and Dinah.

Green Arrow is the best archer in the world, able to hit targets at amazing distances. He is a serviceable hand to hand combatant, who has trained with the Justice League as well as at the ashram. He is quick tempered, and is known to fly off the handle. This coupled with his extreme political views lead to him often getting into trouble.

As a boy, Roy Harper lived with his father, park ranger Roy Harper Sr., in the many rustic cabins the elder Harper resided in. One day, during a massive forest fire, Roy Sr. saved a Navajo brave, Brave Bow, from the fire, and went back into it to save more victims. He was never heard from again, and Brave Bow took in young Roy and raised him on the Navajo reservation.

Roy grew up a lonely child, and took to training himself physically to help ease his loneliness. He picked up a bow at a young age, and became a crack shot. He idolized the new hero Green Arrow, and when an archery contest judged by the Emerald Archer was announced, Roy signed up. Even though he lost due to doctored arrows, he helped Green Arrow bring in some criminals, and with Brave Bow having died, Oliver Queen took the boy in and made him his ward and crime fighting partner, Speedy.

Roy and Ollie shared many years of adventures together, Roy honing his bowmanship under Green Arrow’s tutelage. He also met a group of other young heroes, including the first Robin, Kid Flash, Aqualad, and Wonder Girl, and they became the founding members of the Teen Titans. Roy saw many happy days with this team, and even saw the beginning of a relationship with Donna Troy, Wonder Girl, but as teenagers do, they all drifted apart, and the hard times of Roy’s life began.

With the Titans’ disbanded, and Ollie distracted by his travels with Hal Jordan and his new relationship with Dinah Lance, Roy succumbed to despair. He began to take heroin, and soon was addicted. When Green Arrow found out, the two fought, and it was Black Canary who comforted him and helped him through the withdrawal.

Roy was not one of the old Titans called by Raven when she formed the New Teen Titans, and so
Roy began working as an anti-drug councilor and advocate, while fighting drug peddlers as Speedy. He started making government contacts with this work, and soon he was working for the CBI under Sarge Steel. On assignment, Roy met the international terrorist Cheshire, and the two had an affair before she disappeared.

When Cheshire resurfaced, Roy joined with the Titans to bring her in. When they confronted her, Roy discovered that their affair had an unexpected result: a daughter, Lian. Roy held his daughter briefly before Cheshire escaped with her, and Roy swore to find her. For this purpose, Roy asked for the help of Nightwing, his old friend who had been the first Robin. Roy and Nightwing found her and stopped her attempt to disrupt a peace treaty, but she cursed him for making him love her, and she poisoned Roy. As he recovered, Nightwing appeared with a surprise: he had found Lian and brought her to her father. Roy happily took on the new roll of father.

Roy continues working with the CBI for a time, but eventually he decided he wanted to again take up the super hero life. With the aid of Steve Dayton, he was able to create a new costumed identity, and became Arsenal. Arsenal took over leadership of a new government sponsored group of Titans, and while he was a good leader, many of the members dedication was half-hearted at best, and the team eventually dispersed.

With the Titans disbanded, Roy again took up with the government, and was contacted by Eddie Fyers to come and aid Connor Hawke, Oliver Queen’s son, in trying to bring his father in from a mission infiltrating the eco-terrorists the Eden Group. Connor and Roy initially held each other at a distance, Roy not comfortable with Connor being Ollie’s biological son, Connor with Roy being the one Ollie raised. But with Ollie’s apparent death, they came together and reached an understanding.

The Titans once again reformed, and this time Roy led a team of Titans that included all his old friends and many new members. They came into conflict with Vandal Savage, the immortal villain who turned out to be Roy’s distant ancestor. He rekindled his relationship with Donna Troy briefly, but they realized that they were just meant to be friends. He also took the young hero Damage under his wing, taking him on as a protégé for a time. And it was during this time that he made his final choice about his relationship with Cheshire. Roy let her be sent to jail, as opposed to letting her go free. He has remained a great father to Lian, and the Titans formed her family.

A mysterious conglomerate called Optitron called the Titans and the young heroes called Young Justice together and offered the resources to aid their crime fighting. During the negotiations, both teams were called away to fight a renegade Superman Robot, and in the process Donna was killed. Roy was wracked with grief, as were many of his friends, and another shuffling of teams began.

Roy gathered together a group of rag tag heroes, and with the aid of Nightwing, they formed a new incarnation of the Outsiders. On their second major mission, a battle with the Cult of Blood, Roy was nearly fatally wounded. He has since recovered, but the strain between him and Nightwing over the distance Nightwing is keeping emotionally from his teammates is slowly reaching a boiling point. Recently he has continued his playboy ways by enjoying one night stands with both the Huntress and his team mate, Grace Choi.

Arsenal is one of the best marksmen in the world. While he is particularly adept with a bow and arrow, he is a master of nearly all ranged weapons. Years of practice have also enabled him to turn nearly any object into an effective weapon in combat. His time with the government has given him many contacts, and he is a capable detective.

Last Appearance: X-Statix #18
Cause of Death: Killed in explosion
Group Affiliation: X-Statix, formerly X-Force II
Major Enemies: Mister Code

After his mutant power to stretch his skin and increase his subcutaneous fat first manifested, young Billy Bob Reilly learned to control it and fought crime as the vigilante code-named Phat.

He was recruited into X-Force after the team lost several members during a botched rescue attempt of popular musical group Boys R Us. As part of his recruitment, Billy Bob's agent changed Phat's origin to give him a dysfunctional family background - that of a troubled youth with an alcoholic mother and abusive father who grew up on the streets.

Whilst a member of X-Force, Phat entered into a homosexual relationship with his teammate,
Vivisector. Originally, the pair only acted as homosexuals to boost their popularity within the team, but it seems that they have developed true feelings for each other.

Phat and Vivisector ended theior relationship together, as they weren't really interested in each other. It turned out that Phat is more interest in men with dark skin.

During the time when random killings were occurring in America , X-Statix went to find and stop the culprits, in order to save their reputation. They found the ones responsible and fought them and their leader, Mister Code. During the battle Mister Code was killed and his body exploded after he was unmasked. Enveloping the explosion with his enlarged body, Phat sacrificed his life to save the rest of the team.
